Just finished a Laser Printer and Hot Iron transfer onto a piece of Pine Plywood, with the intention of using my new Pyrography Kit to burn the image on, but now in two minds whether to leave it like it is, or take the Heat Pens to it ??

Have done a lot of Laser Prints using Normal A4 Paper Buggsy, but have never had any success with transferring the image onto wood with a Domestic Hot Iron, maybe the one I'm using doesn't get hot enough ???  ;-{

i use the shirt paper for white shirts .. not the dark or colored shirts ..  the dark is kinda rubbery and you cant pass over the image directly with out a  mess.

Hi Al.

If you place a photocopy or laser printed A4 sheet of ordinary printer paper face down on the wood, you can transfer the design by using a domestic iron, this works because the ink or toner melts with the heat, but transfer the minimum needed to give you a guide to the pattern as you cannot get rid of the excess toner, I've used this method a number of times and always had good results, cant comment on T shirt transfer paper seen it done but never on wood, and prints that need reversing press flip image at time of print.

Cheers Chris.

"Thanks Again Pick" for the tips, and yes I'm up to speed on image reversing, also have an Inkjet Printer, an old Clothes Iron, and plenty of Sharpies on hand to fix up some of my many mistakes, the Laser Printer I have is Black and White only, so I'm looking forward to doing some Colour Prints with the Inkjet Printer when the Paper arrives. :-)

Cool. be sure to reverse the image before printing .. otherwise any text etc will be backwards .  it takes a few minutes and a few passes , but you can tell by slowly revealing as you go .  Then  after the paper is off  , i actually pass over   directly  on the image  lightly to get rid of rough spots and  a clearer image .  (best to use an iron you wont be using on  cloths again . )

sometimes you can touch up spots with  a sharpie etc .

good luck i use an inkjet printer , not sure in laser works .

"A Very Muchos Thank You Pick", for revealing your methods to getting all those beautiful images on your many outstanding builds, something I have been wondering about for years, I will immediately order some T-Shirt Transfer Paper and give it a try, I did end up Pyrographing the above image, and also done one with the Laser Printer/Polycrylic method, will post the finished pics later today, when I get all the paper off Poly Transfer, looks good, but removing "all" the paper is another story. :-)

Almost all my swamp witch theme guitar images  are done using t-shirt transfer paper , ink jet printer , and a clothes iron . including the  latest grader guitar . (used 4 sheets) .

Yep! 'UJ', the 6th fella in from the left is a bit of a Rough Head, but no more rougher than the 5th geezer in from the left, and I won't ell Jim you cut him out, if you don't tell Red Dog I put a Burn Hole in the right side of his chest. ;-D
