I see "Denbo"sanding is not one off my favorits allso! but there are other way's to get your disired shape!

These are some tools to do the Job, there is something to a name, my famely name "EKER" is in fact a trade name ,it means oakpeeler someone who takes the bark of of oak tree's (the bark is used for lye to prepare cowskin or other deer) and the tool to do that whit is the twohanded cutter u see here, in my trade its called a "EKER" a Acker in your lingo i believe ,just so you know !

on my first i got lazy and just knocked the corners off the neck. like a 1/8" round over bit.  i must say it is not that much fun to play when it comes to the chords you have to stretch for... i will certainly do more rounding from now on.

I've tried a variety of shapes ranging from a 3/4" router bit edge to a full traditional rounded neck.d

The fully rounded neck is by far the most comfortable. Through trial and error, I learned that I could use a good wood rasp to the rough shaping, then I switch to a 5" sanding disk in my corded drill. With an eighty grit pad, it easily shapes the neck. Final rounded is accomplished with a 1" belt sander belt turned inside out and pulled back and forth over the neck by hand. Final prep is just hand sanding with a 150 piece of paper. A few coats of hand rubbed shellac and it it smooth and ready to go. Sounds like a lot, but it takes a lot less time to do it than to explain it.

There is also this new way of torqing the neck like the top part where the most chord play tends to be in a more comfort shape then the middle part or the high 12 fret end.

Thanks "Denbo" ,the sanding in most cases is to finisching part (For Me) of the shape ,and if i like fast results i use a rubberdisc whit sanding paper on the electric drill ,its fast cheap and only a mess for a short wile!

cose the dust kills me most of the time treu the years i have gotten allergic to wood dust ,and the slime just pores out of me if i do not protect my self but if i use cutters and planes i have less trouble.

Thanks for your reply timothy ! appriciate the feedback!

Thanks Tom ! yes agreed it reads like a lot but the actual shaping  can vari from a half a hour to a afternoon job , and the final for me can be from eather a wax job in case of the Harder woods to laquer in a fjew coats to get the real smooth surface.

1/2" round-over bit in the router.,,. I own a spoke shave but have not used it.,.,a draw knife I used to do ax handles with.,.,in the early days I used a really small jack plane.,., I would say mine are a wide "U"...

I do Clunky C. I’m basically sticking with the original shape of the neck, except I take just enough off the corners so that they don’t hurt my fretting hand.
In fact, maybe mine are more like fat baseball bat.

Interesting shapes.  I don't seem to be really particular about this, or really notice the neck when I play unless I get splinters or notice things being rough.  I do note that my arthritic left thumb gets irritated by playing my six in standard tuning.

Thanks for the Feed back Bryan ! thats what i did at first aswell but after a fjew jou get other ideers when i did my first oakwood Neck whit heel and bended headstock in one piece ,you get in to it more believe its due to the fact that because you got more work in to it you try to get closer to the real thing, i think my verry first one was a v shape but that was by ignorence on the matter ,but still it turned out playeble !
