I would use 2 screws to help(pre-drill the holes for the threads) and use original Titebond. I have a Chinese PRS clone 6 string guitar that had a set neck with short tenon that had come apart during shipping. I glued it back together and used 2 screws with a metal plate to help reinforce it. It's been very stable for 2 years now.

I have about 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch of surface area on the heal. Is that enough to glue to another piece of wood and be stable enoug

Anyway to save this neck from the scrap pile. I made a massive error in fitting it, it split and this is what i'm left with.

I like side dots too. I prefer to use relatively dark stain on the neck, and copper wire makes a really nice looking side dot on those.

Richard you only need to inset a slice of dowel/plastic rod into the fingerboard,I prefer the dots on the edge,easier to see when playing this is 2mm plastic rod.

I am building my first  neck and fretboard. I would like add to the  positioning doats to the fretboard.  My thinking is to glue the fretboard to the neck then dril Through both the fretboard and the neck used a dowel going through the neck and fretboard as the dots.  Does this make sense or am I full of mud?

I want to try my hand at a cigar box mandolin. I've been checking them out at the local guitar shops to get an idea of dimensions and special features.  I imagine someone out there has built one. Any advice on neck dimensions, tailpiece, bridges, scale length or anything else you discovered during your build? Any advice much appreciated. Thx

Thanks for the ideas.  I have no trouble with a conventional CBG, but the extra string loading is what was giving me some concern.  I will be inletting a 3/8" allthread rod in the neck to prevent neck bending, and through the drum body with an acorn nut at the tailpiece end.
