Oh, thank you Mike! That's so great to hear! You know I spent a year experimenting with all kinds of variables in the slide design to get the tone & playability I really liked. I shared them with local friends, then some mail order, & at the Georgia CBG fest. The thing that really drew me into making more and more was getting feedback from folks about how much they enjoyed playing with them. I never planned to be making slides this seriously - my primary work is making nature inspired ceramic sculptures and doing gallery shows. But the feeling of being able to create something small that other people get joy out of using on a daily basis to create music - man, that's just a really cool thing! I'm so thankful to Ben & C.B. Gitty for partnering with me for distribution. I don't sell my other artwork online, so I don't have a 'shipping department'! I don't think there are any better people out there to work with, and it's awesome to know my slides are finding their way to folks and brightening up people's days with the joy of music. (Man, I sound cheesy, but this is totally heart felt.)
The surface quality of the glazes affects the tone, so I'm very picky about what glazes I use. I mix them myself from scratch. I do have a bright white one that C.B. Gitty isn't stocking yet.
Thank you again for your note Mike! This is exactly why I devote my time to making slides.
Hey, I think I screwed up and told you something wrong on tuning. I am a dunce. Got it confused. DAD is key of D. GDG is key of G. It's the outside keys that determine the key and open strum chord. Sorry.
Hi Mike!
Thanks for stopping by. Keesler in Biloxi. I was born in the Keesler hospital. And yes it is some kind of hot down there. Last week or so they had a heat wave that sent the temperature up above the 100. Have you ever seen that movie 'Biloxi Blues'? Mathew Brodericks character is goin', 'Damn it's hot down here, even tarzan couldn't stand this kind of hot!'
But, yes...the Food is good and the folks are great fun! Looking forward to visiting my folks soon.
Thank you Mike for your comment. Playing on the street while on vacation brings in that extra money that helps to make my stay even better. Lobster and top shelf booze! Even on the platforms of NYC, I have never been heckled. Most people are very friendly, generous, and mostly interested in the sound of the CBG. Many ask if it is amplified electrically. Enjoy.
Hi, thanks for the video comment : -)
To mount the camera, I just got some foam to protect both the headstock and the camera...also stopped it slipping. Then I wound two straps around it...made of elastic and velcro. After stuffing a few more bits of foam here and there and a few more swear words I got it just where I wanted it......a little tip if you're going to try it - check you camera battery is charged up BEFORE you fix it to the camera!!!!!
thanks Mike for the rundown....I love art just as much as wood, so I'm please seeing both types of boxes....color, use of it, it super........I THINK I've seen lacewood---there are local woodworkers who set up displays at the library, I always oooo and ahhhh of the woods! ....lovely........my Dad a lumbertrader, and my g'pa in lumber sales in the 30s here in Ca,,,,so i grew up loving wood.
Thanks Mike, When you add a comment you will notice the icons across the top of the box. Second from the right is the camera icon for adding a photograph. The last one on the right is for adding a file. You can load a pdf file here. Give it a go and see if it works. I was after the combined info to post to someone else on the nation and have done that so getting yours is not critical. Thanks John D

JohnThanks on the sound comparison, Mike. The owl is my favorite. The reso is nice and the reso somehow sounds so SMOOTH plugged in.
Good to peruse your photos again. That reddish f hole git is fine. That bone slide is interesting. The git with a scarfed neck is well done.
Are you going to the K.C. cbg min-fest on the last day of July? I an a 'maybe'.
Thank you for your listening to our music and the comment.
Best Regards,
Tj
