So for build number 3 I decided to make a LPG fretless slide git. OK no problem. I own a 59 chevy so I picked up a 1959 indiana plate from ebay.Still no problems. I wanted to make a simple metal back plate for it instead of all the trouble of re-sawing and decking a wood back.Keeping it simple..still no problem. Then I thought I would give the piece of stainless I cut for the back a little character. now the problem.

It came out too nice. I WANT TO USE IT ON THE FRONT. please help me decide. I know make two but when will it stop.

Sorry amigo, you'd better just accept fate and come to terms with the fact that it will never stop, you are now doomed to a life of  looking at normal every day objects and thinking to yourself "How can I turn that into an instrument?"

But fear not, we're here to egg you on... er... support you with you guitar building addiction. Sometimes the best answer is the simplest answer. As you said yourself, make two.  : )

I'd build the LPG first just to scratch that itch, then build the cool steel plate later.

I think I agree Richard. I've been out in the garage continuing on the box and think I should go with my gut and finish the LPG as planned. It will just have a really cool back.

Besides while I was looking at it I had a vision of a mirror polished stainless git ala National Guitar.

I was born and raised in Indiana, so you could just send me the Indiana plate for a fee and problem solved :) now residing in kentucky but all my family still live in Indiana :)

If you just make 2 that's not so bad. However I don't believe you'll be able to stop there. So just give in and build your brains out.

Build them both at the same time, that way you've got something to do while waiting for your to dry and just to make sure start a third!

Welcome to the addiction that your domed to repeat.

It seems to new to go with the plate, just concede and make two!

A little build update. I found a different plate I couldn't pass up on the bay. I'm gonna call this on SINDIANA.

Instead of just putting a engine turned back on it I decided to make a whole engine turned box with wood bracing inside. My typical bolt on neck made of maple with a wicked looking hickory fret-less finger board. The markers are cut in and filled with rock hard wood filler colored with black dye.

very nice guitar ..
