Can I protect the paper and stickers on the box with a clear coat of some kind?

I am still planning my guitar out but i am wondering if i can protect the cool looking paper and stickers with a clear coat of some kind? I was thinking sometihng along the lines of acrylic but will that stick to the paper and plastic like stickers because i thought it had to be sanded. Any advice is greatly appreciated. 8-)

I've used polyurethane, not the oil based stuff, on paper stickers like for sound hole ID would be for a regular guitar, I think if you use oil based stuff on CBG paper it will leach oil into the paper and sorta stain it there by dulling and messing up the over all look.
I had success with a krylon clear spray. Multiple light coats. Only did it once though so no constant results. And it was on cardboard so...
Clear rattlecan auto acrylic lacquer works for me...a few light coats rather than a heavy one is best, otherwise it soaks thru' the paper and forms dark spots. 250+ cbgs and I use this all the time...
Thanks ChickenboneJohn, that Clear rattlecan auto acrylic lacquer sounds the best. How do you apply it. Does it come in a spray paint like can?
Yup I gonna get me a can and play.

Yes, most auto & hardwares store should stock it in the aerosol spray paint section, just ordinary clear coat lacquer. Remember, the first coat or two should be a really fine misting just to seal it. It's touch dry in minutes, and after a proper final spray it's usually dry enough to handle after an hour.

I use the Clear Krylon on the box also. I had poly stick to my edgestickers once and come off the rest of the top. Since then I just use the Krylon. I also had problems with the stickers getting to wet and staining. So even when I use the Krylon i make the first 2 coats really thin to avoid staining. You wanna make sure your box is downwind I always get a headache when working with the sprays. I Took a piece of plywood and drilled a bunch of small holes in it. Stuck some toothpicks and stuck em in. I spray the bottom of the box, lay it on the tips of the tooth pics. then spray the sides and top. It dries in less than 10 minutes and I do it all over again. Probably 4 or 5 times.
Thanks ill go get some Clear Krylon. You put that on before all the cutting and drilling right?

Shellac, comes in clear and amber if you like an aged tint. Sticks to everything -- it's the most popular sealer for use under other finishes. No sanding needed, either before or between coats.

I've seen clear in spray cans, but unfortunately not amber.
