Hi I'm Ian from Scotland.I have been hovering round this site as well like a wee midgie aroond a jeely piece.I have been building diddly bows etc for around two years but only have three complete instruments.I prefer to try to improve on what I have built.I started getting interested  after seeing Seasick Steve on t v. Somehow I discovered the ins and outs/history of building online and realised the potential this could have.

.Take note - I don't have a massive workshop or garage (no car) only my dining table in the spare bedroom,some basic power/hand tools and a very tolerant partner(either that or a cold damp shed with no power supply/lighting).I have built a panjo/canjo thing,a cardboard/wood diddley and an all wood resonator diddley all one stringers oh and also a distortion amp.I love/live the blues/traditional folk/rock/some country and I am fascinated by this whole thing.I have extensive DIY experience and enjoy creating things from bits and pieces and consider myself to be quite artistic.

The blues for me/partner comes from constant setbacks especially in steady work/health/politically/national football team obviously and other bad shit.But there's humour in (almost) everything and I am enjoying the adventure.I want to progress to uploading photos/videos etc and having good 'craic' with one and all.

Welcome to the fun Jay (Robert J Edwards).  I'm betting you won't stop at 3.  As soon as you finish one you start thinking about building a slightly different one and it grows from there.

Good morning All,

I'm new to CBG's.

Just saw my first one 2 month's ago at a show a buddy was playing at. He mentioned wanting one and me being a builder I figured I'd make him one. Researching them I find CBG's very interesting so i have 3 builds planned and who knows what else after that. :)

I've been fiddling with three string CBG's for a while.

Bought a few and built a few.....love them all.

I'm working on writting the tabs for some backing tracks for some "Frank Zappa" stuff, as while others might disagree, Frank Zappa was a hard core bluesman in his own right. And much of his music was simply beautiful.

Make no mistakes, I can't play the leads, but I can sit back and play the backing tracks and feel good about it, and that's good enough for me.

Remember, there are no rules.
