I'm currently working on another cbg (my own box)

I'm going to do it in white with gold pickup, tuners, solid bridge with gold coloured corner pieces inc one sound hole.what you guys do or what do you to get the paint on,I'm thing of using white emulsion(diluted) as a primer and rattle can white...once its fully coated and hardened off ..lacquer etc.is there a better method? bare in mind I'm UK based so must be able to purchase off ebay if needed. thanks

John, the few cbg's I have painted have been wood boxes, sanded smooth, with 2-3 coats of Rust-Oleum rattle can paint, which is a mineral based, not water based paint. I lightly sanded with 1200 grit sandpaper when well dried (for me, a day or two), then topcoated with MinWax rattle can polyurethane  clear gloss. The finish was attractive and pretty hard when done. I don't know what products you have access to, but with any finish, as you know, preparation is paramount with any product you use. Good luck, hope this was helpful.

Make sure the primer is comparable withe the top coat.
It might be worth considering an auto rattle can primer and an auto rattle can topcoat.
Cheers Taff

ok thanks.

This is done using Halfords car aerosol cans, primer colour then lacquer,

look nice

I've used auto paint in aerosol cans(acrylic based) and acrylic clear gloss with great results on several guitars. Used Dupli-Color Perfect Match, lots of colors to choose from and sprays very well.

Pored fill the grain with wood filler/water mix then sand back. 2 coats of sanding sealer, sanding smooth between coats. 3 coats of nitrocellulose undercoat, sand smooth final coat. Then 4 coats of Arctic white nitro topcoat. Sand smooth after 3 weeks and polish. Great products available form Northwest guitars in Manchester.
