Just discovered this group.

Since I have been considering a headless build I have been researching (and brainstorming) the possibilities. I am working on a couple of ideas of my own, one of the DIY and simple home made style and another slightly more sophisticated solution, both in the CBG oriented builder style.

While I will work on those designs and share at some later point, I would be glad to share the pictures I have collected of ideas to study.

The two biggest challenges I face at this point is the thought that VERY fine adjustment threads are desireable, and that I need to determine the range of adjustement needed. These questions may require an experiment or two!

Found this video on youtube that offers a pretty neat DIY solution

Thanks for that Joe, I have seen several variations on that very idea and it is similar to one I was experimenting with. Still havent finished anything.

I like the tidy result and use of "found" materials though! I hadnt found any wing nuts in that thread, it might just be fine enough to work out well. I am a little concerned about the possibility of galling in the thrust area under the screw with guitar strings. (Not likely a problem on his uke project.) Perhaps and end plate of a different material would be better. I also think I would prefer allen heads over his slotted screws. Finally, with some experimenting I bet the assembly could be shortened up a little more to make it as compact as possible. Just some thoughts......

Thanks again,

Mark

on my profile page, i have a headless aluminum guitar i made,  i thought i had the string clamps things worked out, but it sheared off the thinner strings

for  your  consideration .

ignore  the whiskey spout  on the   end  head  ,  regular tuners are  between the  pups  ,    using the  wrap around design  .  a pain in the ass to  do  , but an attention getter  for sure .

i especially like the White Farm equipment yardstick,,used to have a white  tractor when i farmed with my dad back in 70's

;-)
