Hi J, although I haven't used them myself yet, I know several members of the nation use standard pickups from six-stringers set at steep angle below the 3 or 4 strings. Others have used bass pickups which apparently work well. I have a set of these I'm going to use on a future 4 string build, which cost £8.99 from www.blackdogmusic.co.uk who I get several parts from. The best thing is, you get two pickups linked together, so I reckon I could either use both on one build or split them and use separately. Hope that helps a bit....

JuJu is your man for handmade pickups...without question -they are fantastic. I use regular 4 pole Precision pickups on a lot of my builds, which work fine, but JuJu's pickups are in another league...you won't regret getting one.

yes sure thing if you want a pickup i can make you one i make 1 ,2 ,3 , & 6 string pickups - i use Alnico V magnets throughout - supplied with hookup wires height Adjustment screws and Conical springs
