Ok, so I love collecting Teisco and related 60's guitars.
I have recently purchased a very nice 3 pickup teisco-Kawai from another member of this forum (Pictures attached).

I have been alarmed at the sudden rise in prices over the last year especially however.
I have watched several names, Harmony, Hagstron, Teisco, etc, accelerate in asking price some 200 percent and in some cases MUCH more, as a recent Ebay sold, $1200 Gold foil SS-4 comes to mind...

I have seen these SS-4 guitars go for as little as $25 at some flea markets, auctions and sales across America.
I am now searching and watching for SS-4's, EG's (3's and 4'3), ET's (3's and 4's) constantly.

I am NOT willing to pay $1200 for ANY model however... LOL!

Somebody stuck a fat hog on that Ebay sale, to say the least!

Anybody here have an opinion on the rising prices of these fun but certainly "b" grade instruments?

well   ,   ironically ,    talking about   why these   guitars are  going  up so  much ,  and  the  reasons  why  they  are sought  after  ,,   will probably    even  add to  it   more   . lol

.first off  ..  those  vintage   pickups   are actually  "vintage"  pickups    and have real   vintage  sound   that  modern    stuff can't  seem to  duplicate  .  so   people  look  for  the older stuff  .

secondly,   image  .   kids  these  days  are  into  the garage band /poor  boy  /   grunge     look    sound  and image .  these  guitars   fit that  .

just as they   also   fit  old  blues /hound dog taylor  etc  styles / image  / sound    .   not   to  mention,  the  ss-4l  is    nicknamed     the  "hound  dog taylor  guitar "   ..  (even though   he  actually  played  the   Kawai  made  model. )

3rdly  ..  retro  is  cool , ..  and   authentic retro   is   even better  .

4thly  .. you  can  blame  me  for  bragging  about them on this   site  ;-)

  lol

5th .   ebay  only  neeeds  2  buyers   that  really  want it  to  drive  up  the   price  on  one  ...        and the  next guy  to  sell   one wants  the same  price  .    so  blame   ebay    too  , and  human greed   ;-)

of course , this  is  just   my  opinion .

ps    ,  your  guitar  is a beauty  ..  you  are lucky i  didnt see it  first  ;-)

Holy Sh!t.  Gorgeous.

I can't figure out how to post the pictures!

we  can see the     pictures  in the attachments  that you left under  the   discription.

you  can  also   post  a picture   . when you   type in text  ,  right above the text    box   in the   little menu  click the   little   box   beside the box  that  says  "link "

Got these for $50 the pair many years ago, in the hope of making one good one out of two. I just couldn't bring myself to cannibalise either one of them.

sweet lookin  guits  man

Good for you. They look great. These guitars are so weird and organic. They are fickle, but they are cool. It's funny how the silhouettes of these are so much more 2 dimensionally organic creating that illusion, but the reality is that the American guitars  were much more organic 3 dimensionally, while only giving the illusion of 2 dimensional conformity. You may look at Fenders and Gibsons and think they are quite organic, but the truth is that every curve was rigidly combined in precise combinations and proportions.

I gotta get me one I think....

You got to think in twenty years time, all there will be guitar-wise at flea markets and garage sales are Strat copies, hundreds of thousands of Strat copies, that's pretty depressing.

Was trying to post a pic, something went wrong.
