Hi what size box is suggested for building a cbg?

Got my hands on a cigarbox by the size 9 X 7 inches, how about that? (to small?)
Could probably build me my own box but.....   no.

Just got interested in the cigarbox guitar "thing"
I live in sweden and cant find any good swedish resources.

Thanks for a quick reply. ever built any of your own about that size?
While were at it, what neck width is good for 4 strings?

Trävligt, Rockinfrasse! There's an enormous amount of info in the forum, really a huge load of knowledge. Just finished my first build today, following Wes' and others advises from there. I think you might find it's all easier than You might expect. Me myself spent just a few afternoonhours following the tips' from the forum, and voila: a strummer! :D It's easy - just do it! :D

If You like you can see some pics from the building here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=190937&id=731915019&l...

Might build me something like that then. so whats the sound hehe. Never heard a cbg "live".
Anxious to build me on of my own to play. bought piezos and jacks to get it amp´d last week. hehe.

The box on my first CGB is 5" x 8 3/4" x 2 1/5" deep. You can see picture on my home page. Smaller than yours and it turned out good to me.
Sounds good. been asking around all kind of places for cigarboxes and this is so far the largest i got.
Cant wait to get started!

Sound is "interresting, genuine and true", hehe. I think I had a bit of luck with the piezo-placement, 'cause there are really no feedbackissues. The thing is quite resonnant in itself, ringing a good strum acoustically and amplified it is... well... loud and clear, very addictive, banjo-like. Nothing like a Les Paul, I swear! :D
By the way "Guitarmoro" did you get the piezo out of its housing? been looking at several guitars some get it outta there some use the thing as is.???

Naw. I just sandwich'ed it in foam as-is and glued it inside the lid under the bass-side of the bridge. Work like a charm :D
Hey Rockinfrasse!

The best size box for building a CBG is always the box you have. I've built several 3 stringers with small boxes (one was about 6 X 7, if I recall correctly) and they've all turned out well. Matter of fact, my current favorite is built around a small Romeo y Julietta box. It's got a nice, nasal twang and sustains like crazy.

As for piezos, I've always taken them out of the housing. Never tried leaving one as-is. I glue them right to the wood underneath the lid, and cover the back with a piece of mouse-pad.

Have fun.
