Please forgive me if this has been asked and answered.....I am using the 101 Easy Cigar Box Guitar Songs site and find it incredibly easy to learn songs with that kind of notation....the I IV and V where the chords are written into the lyrics.....just wondering if there are other songbooks which follow the same format? I can't can't seem to find them, if they exist. Thanks in advance....

U can make a 'magic slide rule'

Print this, cut out the two parts, punch the three black holes.. Slide it over till you see the three letter names, ignoring any accidentals (sharp, flat, etc)..
Have fun

Hey Kid.....

Heh....I know I am not entirely stupid, but I'm not sure what to do with this....what do I slide it over? My guitar neck? Thanks for any light you can send along.....I really appreciate your help.

Mike. Print and cut out the two halves. Punch the holes. The one with holes slides over the other until you can see the three letter names that you are seeing in your score. Accidentals, sharp & flat are irrelevant, you can ignore. Then you can use the 1,4,5 chords as they lined up there. It's just a basic g,c,d e,a,b etc -> i,iv,v magic decoder ring

Thanks...makes more sense to me...will give it a try and see how I do....

I have a book, I think its a Mel Bay book, that is all 3 chord songs. Most if not all are in a 1, 4,5 chord progression. You should be able to find it or others ata good music shop. I think it is called 3 chord songs, or something like that.

Thanks, Michael.....will go looking for one....

Are you playing 3 string CBG?

If you like to strum chords, I think you will find this approach enjoyable.

It is based on the same movable chord approach used on standard guitar, so it is extremely versatile.

Due to the fact there are less strings, it makes it easier.

Once learned, it can be applied to 4 string CBG too:  http://youtu.be/hER0GQCzdoo
