Friends,

Here's a challenge and an invitation and a promise all wrapped up.

This is the time to dream about next year...

"What "big thing" do you hope/desire/dream for in the coming year?" If you will share it, we here at the chapel can to three things.... First we can pray with each other, believing that the power of prayer can be a key ingrediant in what is hoped for will become a reality. Second, we can encourage each other as the year goes on to keep the dream alive.... and finally, we can hold each other accountable if the realization of the dream depends in part on our effort....

OK, I'll start...

I have long dreamed to write a book that would make a difference in people's lives. I have a ton of good ideas, but I don't seem able to stay focused.... so, 2009 will be the year, with God's help, I not only write that book, but get it in front publishers.....

OK... who's next?

Blessings,

Sam

I'll go......A child.
The success of Songs Inside the Box. Right now, it's an uphill battle to get it on PBS stations and other venues.
Shane,

I am building a "prayer list" of everything mentioned in this thread.... For you, it feels like wisdom in presentation and favor with those who can make a difference.... "Philippians 4:13" is a good one for keeping your spirit up until the answer comes....

Blessings,

Sam

Jawbone,

As you wait for and pray for this child, I would suggest that you meditate about how your life will change and ponder why you are seeking this at this time.... The more you tune into this the closer the blessing comes...

You're on my list,

Sam

JawBone,

I have a high theology around the concept of "co-creation".... basically it goes like this...

that's my prayer for you today....

Blessings,

Sam
"Co -creation"? Please explain.....
Jawbone
Good Sunday Morning,

Hi Jawbone,

A theology of "Co-creation" reduced to it's simplest form says; "Although God does not need humanity to accomplish anything, God prefers to enlist humanity as a partner in the most significant acts of creation"

This preference of God for "co-creation" is first seen in the Garden of Eden where God takes a rib from Adam to make "woman" and then tells the first couple to "replentish the earth". God didn't really need the first family to tend the garden, but God involved them. God, didn't need Moses to save the Hebrew slaves or Joshua to "subdue the land", but God chose to involve them in tasks that were important to the God/man partnership.

Ultimately, God could have devised a plan of salvation that didn't involve humanity (OK, I don't know what it would have looked like, but God is...afterall, God.), but God prefered the act of "incarnation" so that in Jesus Christ, both God and man hung on the cross as an atonement for all sin.

Hope that explains it. You see, I identify myself as an "evangelical neo-Wesleyan".... the "neo-" essentially means that I have a more optimistic doctrine of humanity that Wesley did.

the best,

Sam

PS: Of course, "co-creation" means that "asking God" for something in prayer, doesn't relieve us from doing all that we can within our power to make it happen. We do what we can and trust than God will do what is right. In the matter of having a baby, that shouldn't be too burdensome.... 8-).... Sam
