Yup I love the longer scales - baritone 5 strings are now my favorite builds
What makes it "baritone?" The tuning? Thicker strings? Or is it just the scale length? (or all of the above?)

My 2-string has a 26.75 scale length, but I don't notice much difference in sound.
I built a 30" 3-stringer. A D G strings tuned to E B E. Great for playing with non-CBInstruments.
what a great fretboard

It's the scale length. I believe 30" is standard for a baritone guitar. Interestingly, my friend has a short scale bass which is also 30". I've seen people using baritone guitars in the band as a bass.

Yes - awesome idea to use Corian for the fretboard! I can tell you had fun picking out the neck wood too. Skeesix
My first CBG build was a baritone (almost a bass) - just 'cuz I didn't know any better.
I can't remember what the scale was, but I built it with the idea of using E,A,D strings out of a set of guitar strings. (I sold it on eBay a couple of years back just to thin the herd.)

When I went to string it up - I found out that those standard strings were just too dang short to span the distance from tail to tuners. I ended up drilling string holes through the plate just south of the bridge, so I could make it work. Downside, of course was that you'd have to de-string all three and open the box to be able to replace any one string. ha-ha

This discussion reminds me that it's time to build another. I really did like that throaty sound.

The one I'm building now is turning out to be a baritone. Did some funky conversions from inches to cm and ended up with way too long scale on it. Around 30 inch scale length.

Btw. Really nice sound on that build Knotlenny!

Hoping here that it sounds good in the end and at least I learned something with the build.
typical specs for a baritone guitar is scale length 26-29 inches.... heaviest string 0.070" and typical tuning B-E-A-D-F#-B

but on a BariCBG anything goes...

the best,

Sam
My CGB is a short scale bass or a baritone, depending on if it is strung with steel or weedwacker strings, also, on how it is tuned. When strung with steel I've tuned it to BEAD and it has a good steel string sound but-low. With weedwacker strings and tuned EADG it sounds more like a bass,a crappy bass, I just did not like that sound. Now I have taken it apart to make some changes, will go back to steel strings for good-at least on this CGB.

What scale? what size WW strings? If you detune WW string too much it will sound crappy. With enough tension, it should give you a nice thump/thump bass, depending on how the pup is set up...

the best,

Wichita Sam
thats what i was thinking 27 inch scale tuned to a or b you could play bass lines and chord .neck tension would be a concern. nice looking cbb i have an eastwood baritone burly .you can play bass on it
