This is a way but not the best. I made this and morphed it into what it is today. I clip it on the edge of the can but you can't bump it while you play or it will produce other noises. Still you can work with it and it sounds pretty good...... 1/4" inch jack, volume control, piezo, and clothes pin. 2 film canisters, black tape, and some wire droppings ........ kinda what was laying on my cluttered work bench. Makes my Foster Canjo sound cool.
This is how I made the one I wanted to add a pickup to. I useda little wider stick with a small piezo mounted in the middle of the board directley under the can ( rod piezo would work better) with the volume control faceing the outside with the bottle cap as the volume control, Using the 1/4" jack out the butt end as the string anchor. Wood plate to cover wiring. See pictures.
Your idea is great for thouse who have a can they want wire for sound thats not allready purposeley made for it.
I like both idea's...But could u wire the can inside?
I guess you could if you had enough room to do the job. On using the aluminum beer bottles it would be tough. As is it can be fun trying to just get the screws to find the holes as I dont drill completley through both sides of the can but put them in through the neck with a special tool I made for the job. A little like building a ship in a bottle.
I like that C Cook........ whats it look like under the plate? Like the side markers too!
Heers a pic under the side plate, You cant see the piezo unless you take the can off too but you can see the jack and volume pot, the piezo is just above the pot. The side markers are black furniture tacks. Sorry about the fuzzy picture but it gives you the basics of how I did it. Thanks
Thank Man ...It would be hard to wire a aluminum beer bottle....But a reg beer can it might work...You give me some idea's to go on...
Fuzzy pic yes indeed but not the idea. I guess I expected it to be one big void behind the plate but it's really simple back there. Thanks for the post
Is it really an advantage to have a volume control for a piezo?
or would the gain and volume control on the amp be sufficient???
tnx
