I have good cigar box.  Bad is that it's in propeller. Can I fix it and how ?

I have guitar fingerboard what is 70cm long. I wanna make 28" scale guitar.

30" scale if I can't calculated 28" and I have short scale bass neck mesures.

My electric guitar is 24.75"/628mm scale and fingerboard is 460mm

I was thinking maybe I calculate, measure and marke frets. That way I can get how long I cut board.

Where do you get guitar strings that long? I have a mountain dulcimer that I'm not playing because I can't find in China long enough strings, guitar, banjo or otherwise. I suspect you may also have the same problem with a 28" CBG.

-Rand

I mean scale lenght 28". Because Scale lenght is longer I can use thicker strings.

Danelectro makes baritone guitars.

Fender makes baritone jaguar and telecaster 28.5"

Gibson makes baritone les paul studio in 28.5" scale.

Epiphone makes les paul baritone in 27.5" scale

Some acoustic guitar companies makes baritone guitars 27"- 28" scale.

Fender made octave lower guitar named bass VI in 30" scale.

Schecter makes Hellcat VI and Ultra VI in 30" scale.

Six string or more string basses have lighter strings. bass is 34" scale.

Thomann sells baritone strings.

I think I can make baritone cbg.

Johnny lowebow can make lowebows and lowebows have longer necks than regular guitars.

you can buy bulk rolls of string gauges...their used on floor harps and hammer dulcimers

Thanks, Randy. That's a good idea. While here in the States I can pick up some (a little) "bulk wire", if I can locate a convenient source. I'll see if I can locate a source via Google.

-Rand

Seems different folks have different ideas about what "bulk guitar strings" mean. Some think "pre-packaged pre-cut strings of a specific size sold in sets of 5 or 12 in prices ranging from $3 to $20. Others think "25 sets of precut guitar strings where each set includes one of each sized guitar string." All seem to think you need a ball at one end (or at least a loop) in order to install the strings. Here's a couple photos to show what I mean...

Sold in bulk... "Each pack contains either 48 strings or 48 sets. They come to you in a simple plastic container, with no envelopes, pouches or fancy insert cards. Just the part you actually use - the strings."

So, I assume you have to order three packs, one for each string size if you are making 3-string dulcimers.

GuitarCenter

These are sold in sets of 25 and where each set includes six strings (one of each size for a guitar). These sell at GuitarCenter.com for like $190 to $200 or so per big box. Problem is, with dulcimer builders, strings 4, 5 and 6 (times 25) go unused. So buying this way makes no sense.

These "bulk strings" are sold in individual sizes in sets of 5. Not bad pricing, but I still don't know if they are any longer than the strings I buy in China. I just wish string vendors would just publish the over all string length spec along with the string gauge specs.

I guess what I'm looking for is a local retailer who has them on big spools and can cut them to the lengths I specify just like they (maybe used) to sell wire at local hardware stores. Keep dreaming, right!  I'd still have the problem of mounting the balls (or loops) on the ends of the cut strings.

Yep, I just need a few really long guitar strings...

-Rand.

P.S. Sorry for hyjacking this thread.

JustStrings.com

Large selection of musical instrument strings includes guitar, bass guitar, double bass, violin, mandolin, ...

Also, rand you can easily use those other three for an 'tenor' dulci or some such. Go a couple frets longer an tune two octaves below it other..

Maybe some music store have big bulk guitar string boxes and they selling only 1 or many as you need strings.

I can buy pre-packaged pre-cut one string at time in music store.

The only way you might cure a warped box is with braces on the inside.

I tried didnt fix the box. Maybe I did something wrong. I try someday again.

Can I use regular guitar tuners or I need bigger tuners for baritone guitar.
