I looked at the Line 6 Pod but I'm worried that I'd get confused with all of the available amp models and effects.  You get an excellent and consistent Bug sound out of it but I'm easily distracted by gadgets. For example, having heard Phillip's train vid, I'm currently considering whether I can get Mrs Digly's keyboard out of the loft and fit it in the study ......maybe on a new shelf !

Digly,

Rory Gallagher use this same amp extensively on his album, "Fresh Evidence." So you're in good company :-)

These solid-state amps are not made any more, but apparently they are occasionally available on eBay UK, Bug.

Nice amp!!! Also try a blues driver pedal but it sounds like you
Got a build in pre-amp too

Will have a look

I use a line pod 6 with built in effects... 30 off eBay
and it's probably cheating.

Thanks, guys. Bug, I think it was made around 1990. I found it in a pawn broker's in Cambridge. It's all solid state - I confirmed this by taking the back off to make sure there was no dodgy wiring or mods in there. Despite being solid state, it seems to behave like a tube amp (I've never owned one so I don't really know), in that the Gain is like a pre-amp and Vol is master volume. You can really push the distortion with the gain, while still running at very low volume.

This model is the VGA 15 guitar amp. They also did a similar VBA 15 Bass King Jr bass amp. There's some info on the bass model here:

You were right about the Snowball Oily - it was a great recommendation that didn't break the bank. It's early days and I'm still learning about which setting to use and where to position it relative to the speaker. The next step may even be singing. I'll post a warning if I'm going to do that !

Dig,

Excellent! Love that amp's sound. And what'd I tell ya about the Blue Snowball, eh? Sounds great into Audacity. You got yourself a recording studio, bro. And they're right: you have a fabulous presenter's voice.
