I put a piezo disk in the suitcase and then a small speaker, but neither worked very well. An Internet search showed how to build something called a subkick, so based on that I hooked this old speaker up to my amp and set it about six inches from the suitcase to act as a microphone. It worked pretty well so I ran it through a Danelectro Fish and Chips EQ and tuned it in even more. Then I decided to try hitting the speaker with the drum pedal. This may be just what I’ve been looking for.
