Train Whistle on Homemade Lap Steel

This might be the shortest video on the Nation. I've been working on making train whistle sounds on my lap steel, The first wail is straight into the amp with a touch of reverb. The second wail is through my modified Boss DS-1 distortion pedal, but any distortion or OD should work just fine. Enjoy!

Voodoo Chile Intro on Homemade Lap Steel

Here's a shot at the intro to Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Chile on my homemade lap steel. The first attempt is through a plain Boss DS-1 with a little delay and reverb. The second attempt is through a Boss DS-1 that I modified to take out some of the sizzle. The knobs are set to the same level on both pedals and the modded one has more volume and better crunch IMHO. The wah pedal was rescued from a guy who was going to throw it away. Some minor repairs put it back in action for free. Sorry for the sloppy playing. I started working the song out two nights ago and it is stuck in my head REALLY bad... Just had to do something with it.

Homemade Distortion vs. Boss DS-1 with Cigar Box Guitar

Here's a homemade distortion put together on a breadboard. This thing is pretty dang good. I compared it with my Boss DS-1 and really like the sound of the homemade one. It isn't as fuzzy as the DS-1 and it seems to preserve the guitar's tone. Here's a link to the plans:http://www.runoffgroove.com/grace.html. It's the Grace version and I will definitely build a permanent version for my pedal board.
