One of my all time favorite guitar riffs and just perfect to play on a 151 CBG and to try to dial in the wall wart pickup. Found a great backing track loop made from a live Phish performance here:

It's just like being in the band!

A few years after Baltimore, Santana came to another Balto area venue (Merriweather Post Pavilion) and a bunch of us went on the fly. No mention of an opening band but there they were. Had one of those "Hey Man" moments.

Saw them about a half dozen times after that.

We had a bout a dozen of their songs on the list.

Thanks for looking Derek, James O, Rick and Clock!

Should've guessed that you've played some Phish along the way Slowhound ;).  Sounds like a great moment at the wedding.  I was really huge into them in the 90s, followed them around a few times out east and stuff.  Got a little burned out, but I still catch them when I can.  Going to see them at Wrigley Field in a few weeks.  I put Trey Anastasio up there as one of the best rock guitarists around.

Really nice.

Saw those guys at a small club called the 8x10 in Baltimore before they blew up. Don't think they were calling themselves Phish yet. Have a recording somewhere (it's most likely on the net too).

Back in my bass playing days we opened up a wedding reception with Wolfman's Brother along with a guy playing bagpipes. Just a great spontaneous moment. The gal getting hitched was in the band so it made for an interesting and fun gig.

Never latched on to them too heavy but always liked playing their tunes.

Thanks Dave and Unc! Pretty sure there's not much overlap between Phish and CBGs, although I did see one guy selling them in the parking lot before a show a couple years ago. That made me happy.
