While the guys and gals were cotton picking and singing
The blues and generally being exploited with crop sharing schemes.
The only way out was if you were lucky
you learnt to play a guitar and travelled around the work camps playing a sat night.
"Make me a pallet on your floor" make me a bed for the night ?

This shows the richer side , the city workers maybe buying and selling cotton?
The loading and unloading of cotton and crops onto ships etc.

"The other side of the blues."

and maybe listening to ragtime music
