The Ballad of Foxy Brown

A trip to the country last weekend gave me the idea for this song, wrote most of it while watching the Canadian Grand Prix which has nothing to do with anything other than the words come easier if you're relaxed! After testing out a few different rhythms the song ended up as a sort of Woody Guthrie meets Robert Johnson type of thing.

Guitar part recorded simultaneously onto video and computer, warts-and-all, with my Line 6 Spider mini amp into Audacity and later dubbed on the vocals, will take some time to learn this one!

OVER HEDGE AND UNDER DALE
WHERE STIRRUP CUPS AND WHIPS PREVAIL.
A BAND OF HUNTERS WITH THEIR DOGS
TO CHASE OL’ FOXY THROUGH THE BOGS……..

FOXY HEARS THE TRUMPET CALL,
GOOD HEAD START TO LEAD THEIR FALL,
THROUGH THE FIELDS INTO THE WOOD
FOXY LEADS THEM FROM HER BROOD.

WELL FOXY GOT AHEAD OF THE PACK
RUNNING FAST NOT LOOKING BACK.
WITH AGE OLD TRACKS TO GUIDE HER WAY
SHE’LL LIVE TO RUN ANOTHER DAY……………..

SLY OL’ FOXY HAD A TRICK
HER FATHER TAUGHT HER, REALLY SLICK!
SHE TOOK THEM DOWN A SECRET TRACK
LED THEM INTO A BOGGY PATCH.

WELL RIDERS, HORSES, DOGS FELL IN
SOAKED IN MUD THROUGH TO THEIR SKIN.
SHOUTING, YELPING, THEY WERE STUCK
…TAKE ‘EM HOURS TO GET OUT THAT MUCK!…

BUT REELED IN SHOCK AT WHAT SHE FOUND,
MEN WITH SPADES DUG OUT HER LAIR
SHE CRIED IN ANGUISH “THAT AIN’T FAIR !”

WELL FOXY MOVED INTO THE TOWN,
FOUND A NEW PLACE, SETTLED DOWN.
PEOPLE FED HER AND TOOK CARE
HER CUBS WERE SAFE AND WELL ROUND THERE..

WHERE MOTOR CARS AND STREETS PREVAIL

TO CHASE OL’ FOXY THROUGH THE RUNS

THE COUNCIL MEN CAME TO TAKE HER AWAY.
SO THE CHASE WAS ON AND THROUGH THE STREETS

On second thoughts should be Woody Guthrie meets Wally Whyton...lol !!!

A stomp box has been something i have been thinking about for a while, have an Alabama plated screwed to a wine box with a jack plug in but designing an electronic multi-stomp box, will post results!

ED a fox proof fence and floor will keep your hens safe, chicken wire is only good for keeping chickens in (-:

I have a cousin of Foxy Brown living behind my new barn. We would see her most mornings before the underbrush grew leaves. The den is really close, but I haven't looked for it carefully. I've seen her bringing the early morning catch back for the cubs. She's sort of put a damper on my idea to have a few hens for fresh eggs.
