My first sewing machine bobbin pickup. Its un-potted and I kinda guessed at the amount of wraps, I didnt want to fill it up because I used rare earth magnets...

Great work Brian! Did you get the magnets at RadioSnack?

Cool Clark...its not rocket surgery, especially this style, and its a great addition to CBG, I actuall plan on placing this style between two strings, so two on a three string guitar. Check out pics of Johnny Lowebow's Hill Harp, you can google if you cant find him here, this is how he does it. Good luck, cant wait to see it.

Thanks Skeesix, the magnets I bought are 1/4" x 1/4" so with two in the bobbin center one is flush the other is proud approx 1/8" I did not know how it would work or sound if the magnet were not filling the hole, I used a hot glue gun, what are your thoughts about that?

This is a second one with more wraps.

Nice first attempt. You can try stuff like adding more wraps or taking off one magnet to change the tone. How did you attach the bobbin to the base?

I got the idea from Johnny Lowebow and One String Willie.....imitation is the most sincere form of flattery!

I can hear it from over here in the UK, so it must be loud ;-) Good going.
