Hi and thanks for the reply...I've checked out your website and the "standard" sounds great!!!...I'm wondering if you sell those improved pick ups???

Mike,

Thanks for the response, I didnt really expect a response with personal knowledge. But I shouldnt be surprised by anything from this site, the responses are frequently amazing. I frequently learn something new or get new ideas here!

I figure the strings were intended to be sympathetic, but am surprised they do much at that length. Very interesting result!

Thanks again for your input!

To Everyone, Thanks for the kind comments. Pinecone said he was very humbled reading them. I'll post some more artist video reviews over the next couple of days. Thank you for being such a warm and welcoming community.

best,

Mike Thomas

Hi Mark Bliss, The Guitar Center contest rules require contestants to play 6, 7, or 12 string guitars ONLY. So Pinecone, with his defiant personality, stapled 3 extra strings to the guitar and entered. It was a blessing in disguise. The three extra strings ring in sympathetic vibration and almost act like a natural reverb to create ambience for the guitar. He also uses them as a percussive element creating washboard sounding rhythms as he's playing. It's pretty hip to watch.

Hi bemuzic, the pickup currently in Pinecone's personal CBG is just a piezo transducer, like the ones everyone here has used a million times. However the ones in the Hobo King "Standard" guitars we are manufacturing have extra circuitry in them to optimize the frequencies Pinecone liked and cut the ones he didn't. They were also designed to help the volume to feedback ratio. You can hear the improved pickups on our website under the artist page at hoboking.com . if you have decent computer speakers you'll find they sound incredible warm and rich.
