Thanks everyone! Tom, I made a 4 string single coil pickup. I used Paduk wood to make the bobbin, and 4 Alnico5 magnets. I wound 42awg wire onto it. It came out to right around 6500 wraps. Measured out to a very low DC resistance as the fewer magnets you have the more wraps you need.
