Yup,  Scruggy.  It takes  a good builder or good luck.  But you can get the strings down close to the fret board..  just right... this can be done.    Also, it helps to have some light strings, like light electrics.

Try it Scruggy, no different from playing fretless banjo or upright bass! Just have to pay closer attention to finger placement.

Just found this vid on YouTube pretty awesome! She seems to be finger fretting but no frets on cbg! How does that work?
