Now that is one helluva good song,wonderfully sung and played,I particularly liked the sound of that cajon drum,very atmospheric and yet beautifully stark.

Perfectly captures that feeling you get when you look beneath the Blues and see the dark icy waters that forever lurk just below it. Got that southern gothic mood down pat. And hearing it sung from a woman's perspective and with a woman's voice just makes it ten times more intense. Especially *this* woman who isnt afraid, or angry, or defiant. She's just sitting there waiting - with her eyes wide open - taking it all in. A woman who is already spiritually in the next world - and who now looks on her actual execution as being a mere detail. Wow! Talk about dark!!!

Terrific performance! And a great song. Thx for sharing it with us.

Yes! Great tone, great playing, great lyric. Only thing additional I could hear in my head was for the bridge, some kinda clean lead, and a heavenly chorus intoning "Hangman...hangman...Hangman..."
