Thanks John, I can relate.  I stuck with DGB far too long really for the same reasons.  A couple years ago, I decided to give GDG a real chance and went back to the drawing board and tried to approach it like I was learning music for the first time.  Lots of scales and exercises and studying theory - all of the boring stuff I never learned right in the first place - is finally starting to pay off.

Yup, what Pick said. And Richard, E. and James O.  Wonderful.  And an epiphany. 

I didn't 'get' why folks would want to make a GDG a universal, do it all player.  For me they are mostly a fun little blues box and I use other tunings for more varied songs.   But seeing and hearing you do this one, I think I finally get it.  Excellent.
