Put the jack through the side, hot melt glue holds the disc right to  the lid. You can buy them pre-wired and ready to go from CB Gitty for about 12-13 bucks! I glue it about 1/4 -1/2 inch from the bass side of the neck at the spot of the bridge. It's that simple! Good luck.

Man I think I'll try that, so you just mount it right to the top of the cigar box on the inside?

Very balanced. By placing it on the bass side you don't get to much treble and avoid a tinny sound. The bass sometimes needs the extra oomph as well. Also, with the disc, it picks up pretty much everything, so tapping works, hammer on/offs get picked up. Downside, i play a horrible slide and will get the sound of the slide on the frets, neck, etc... The disc has pros and cons but I like it overall.

I will try that with the piezo (do the strings sound balanced?)

as far as videos go... my first efforts are no as good as my later efforts... so I say go for it and just have fun along the way ;-)

Eric, I use piezos discs on the lid of the box, glued by the bridge on the bass side. I use a cheap Estaban acoustic amp that has reverb and they sound pretty good. Every time I think about making a video, I listen to stuff here and realize I should continue to play in my basement, quietly.....Someday though.

They are pretty finicky, and they sound better through a nine volt battery powered amp than a real one. That's a little cigar box amp that I'm playing it through.

You get a really great tone - I never had much luck with piezos, probably because I didn't persevere !

Thank you for your compliments, it is a piezo under the bridge.

Great job all round, Eric.  Is that a piezo pickup or is there a mag hiding in there somewhere ?
