After a lot of research, I decided to build my own spring reverb. I had never done this before so the video includes a lot of prototyping. This unit has some issues, but I learned a lot and proved it is possible. Stay tuned for Part II.

Thanks BrianQ. I checked out the Stage Center Reverb and it looks like a pretty cool little circuit. 3 ICs and some resistors/caps. That was a good find. It's not exactly what I was trying to do though. Where that's a simple circuit to use a pre-built tank, I was attempting to build the tank itself. Adding another amp after the spring might be an option but honestly, the output volume is reasonable... even with this thing being passive. I'm working on a round II and I think it's going to make this design a lot more useful. The current problem with this design is feedback. If you get your amp cranked up the spring starts to vibrate and make a small feedback loop. That's probably going to be the hardest part to solve.
Forgot to mention in my earlier post, generally a spring reverb has a preamp & a recovery amp. So, another amp/preamp circuit after the spring would definitely do it some justice?
There might be a way to make it a lot smaller but I had the wine box on hand and it seemed to work. I'm pleased so far and I think part II is going to be great.
Another intriguing video Kale! I am looking forward to part 2 also. This is definitely a jumbo effects box!
Yeah. I'm happy for a first attempt but I think a couple tweaks could make it really useful.
Interesting stuff. Can`t wait for part 2!
Thanks BrianQ. I figured you'd know more about this. I'm going to go for a round II on this design but I'll probably end up trying something like you suggest as well.
Kool, I’ve built quite a few reverb units myself. Check out the “stage center reverb” it has a simple IC driver circuit, it can drive an accutronics tank well. That might be a better driver for your project?Actually, this is a good alternative to a Fender style reverb unit, those transformer’s are really pricey & tubes are becoming scarce because of the Ukraine incident. Have you heard of the Belton “brick”? It’s an IC module that emulates spring reverb, eliminates the need for a reverb tank? Cheers :)
