Hi Jeffrey,
If the neck bar was tapered you might be able to have some cams that changed the spacing of the frets so that the intervals worked anywhere on the neck. It would be an interesting set calculations and need a cunning mechanism.
On the other hand, if you just had a single high fret , like a sliding fret zero, then it would make an interesting slide guitar but without the option of lifting to open strings.
An interesting concept.
