   The simplest way to distress wood is always the lazy route.

   All you need to do is put little if any building skill into the

   project,  so that the high tension strings cause it to break

   constantly.  When it breaks,  instead of immediately

   rebuilding,  become enraged at the wood and yell at it

   until it is well and truly distressed.  As we all know,  

   stress leads to premature aging,  which means lots

   of wrinkles and graying...
