mic and guitar going thru a small mixer, then directly to the computer mic input....
no speaker in the loop, i'm wearing headphones...didn't notice any echoing in the headphones....

What was your set-up? What mike w said could all be causes...it could also be phasing. Let me know how you were set-up and we can trouble shoot the issue.

The echoing could be some sort of feedback or delay from the mic and the CBG pickup -- or even between the mic and your speakers.
