"Lol ... I am using a table saw so the depth can be set fairly well. More important is blocking off both ends of the steel so that it cannot break loose from the glue. That needs some 1/8" thick wood strips."

"I have also used 1/8 x 3/8" flat bar. I used it in 6 and 12 string builds. All I did to mount it was run a saw kerf the length of the neck, fill the kerf with glue and slide the bar into it. The fret board is later glued on top."

David McQueen replied to Ducati Scotty's discussion 1/8” thick fretboards?
"You see fender guitars with no separate fret board, So the thickness, 1/8", in and of itself should not be a problem if it is pre glued to the neck. Just make he rest of the neck thicker."

"Brande des Hermites" and "Volte Praetorius" - it's two works from the collection of popular dances of France, Pascal Bouquet written specifically for learning to play the lute.

Francesco Canova da Milano (Italian Francesco Canova da Milano) - Italian Renaissance lute, one of the major European composers XVI veka.Franchesko Canova da Milano is one of the best composers of lute music, and possibly greatest lute virtuoso of all time. His work, and the amazing beauty of a consistently high level, and are often performed today.

Hi Mike, even though i'm in CBN, i have yet to use a cigar box for my builds. I started making my own boxes right off. I have used some great old jewelry and packing boxes. I started making my own to start to learn and making curved boxes was beyond me. I like the square and i think they work great. I like making my own because i can use good luthier wood. I use Martin factory reject spruce for tops and Walnut and cherry for sides and some pretty maple or burl wood for the bottom. I never have used a jig, i just start with the bottom clamped to a very flat board and build my way up. It works good. .... Dacve

Hi All,

I've been busy making cigar box guitars in Barrie Canada.  I wanted to connect with others doing the same.

My building is pretty well over for the year now ( Nov 27 as I post this ). I am working in the garage without heat. We have about 8" of snow in the last week, so it is a little cold to be doing things.

I look forward to taking with many of you. I put up some pics so you can see what I have been up to.

Dave
