If you need some tuners and strings, I can supply them, $25.00 for the "kit", including shipping. For a child I would make it a two string, (A,D). a melody string, and a drone. If you wanted to make one yourself completely, a fret board only makes life a bit easier until you get to the point where everything is clearer. Fret boards can be tough to make if you haven't made one before. Just laying one out can be hard if you have never done it before. If you have some woodworking experience, then I can assist you by sending you a set of actual size plans for a full size dulcimer. Just follow the plans and a dulcimer will appear. I can help in any way to assist you. When i started there wasn't any info around. I learned the hard way and with many mistakes...

I've made tenor guitars, and some mandolas the same way. I like it because of the mellowness and the way the tuning stays. Please do it. Anyone is welcome to copy anything I make. Please post it.
