Hey Travis.

I heard you are making some cool 3-string guitars. Do you have a website?

Does the brass tube give it more of a ring to the sound.

thanks for the comments Travis. the jacks you ask about are stero/mono,and they work great on thick walls. i got 20 for $40 bucks, that will never happen again. i do use screws for fret markers sometimes, we often use what we have and i have alot of them.. as you build more and more you will find what works best for you, so just dig in and make a cool lookin cbg.

Hey Travis, yes the zero fret acts as a nut. Just make the cut for the zero fret and mesure from that cut.

Hey there Travis,

I still have that damn problem, I thought I had bought a bad batch off ebay but bought a few from Guitar Center and what do ya know still have the same problem. I have soldered pots a millian times in the past with guitars and such but for some reason with these dang CBG's Im getting that hum. As long as I dont install a pot and just have a jack and Piezo Im good. Wish I could figure it out.

Also, has anyone told you that your profile picture makes you look like the Master Control Program (MCP) from Tron?

Hi, the soundhole covers I use can be found at Stewart MacDonald, under hardware->Resonator Guitars->covers and plates.

hello got a few answers fer ya travis. on the brass grommets on the vintage Omar build.they are not really grommets at all.they are brass candle cup inserts from wiseacresart on e-bay.they are 29/32ths and to install them i use a 13/16ths flat paddle bit to make the hole then i use a small half round rasp to get the hole just a tiny bit bigger and the brass insert fits tight that way. hope this helps ya. if by some chance ya make the hole a little too big where the insert don,t fit snug[which has happened to me a time or two] you can clip the sleeve of the brass insert and bend it over inside the back of the box and it will be secure from any rattles that way.i usually clip the sleeve in quarter inch increments to make the bending process real simple.once again hope this info is helpful to ya.

Heh, I had moderate comments turned on. Don't worry, we got ya.

Not familiar with that one but I'm sure Mark (fish buddy) is. There are a lot of small "pocket companies" located in places you would not know were places.

Also, noticed you are in Simpsonville. Although I live in Johnson City, TN my company is in Joanna, SC. My boss actually is from Simpsonville. It's a small world. Don't worry, I'm not weird or anything...LOL.

No kidding. Ask him if he knows where Neely Farm is.... he he.

What's the name of the company? I got a fishing buddy, works for Laurens 56 school district that was out at Joanna elementary today... wow. small world. And he used to live in Johnson City, TN. My Brother in law is in Boone NC.

> I get through that way for business several times a year. Would love to see some of your stuff close up sometime if you would be so kind??

Sure, just let me know when you will be through town. There are a couple of other CBN members in the area too (Terry Carmack, Garland Gentry): we should get together and jam.

> I appreciate all the help too, everyone on here has been so cool.

This kind of community is great: it reminds me of the open source software world (which is my bread and butter), where help yourself by helping others is a major part of the ethos.

I glue the nut to the neck/fretboard but I have been known to cut a notch. I have a band saw which makes life infinitely easier.
