Thanks Ronnie, New to all this, so just poking around the forum, the pics and viseos trying to learn enough to actually build one or at least try. Lots of VERY NICE instruments being shown. And they sound great as well.

I think I'll copy the scale length from my Epiphone Dot 335 since that's by far my most comfortable "made by others" git. Your photos gave me a great idea about the tailpiece on my first build. I was wondering how to keep the strings from digging into the wood where the exit the hole. I'll put a piece of fretwire there;that'll be a good way to practice fretwork for my next build.
Thanks. Not sure when I'll build since need to read up a bit before I start. In particular, I'm not sure I understand yet how to space the frets - some division of the scale length I guess.
But I did pick up some boxes at my local tobacco shop today. I'm thinking that my first project will be a uke, since I've been thinking about buying a Stew-mac kit.
hey ronnie--thanks fer da comment on the jack daniels guitar.i kinda like the sound of it cause it gots a deep body.cool looking tin i got on e-bay fer less than 10 bucks including shipping. i,m a frugal e-bay shopper--if it cost more than 10 bucks i gonna look fer another one untill i find one in the 10 buck range yep. thanks again man.
When I seen the Scheerhorn Wessie on e-bay I was really surprised. I didn't know Tim made Wessies. Dave is a big fan of Tim's creations. I would like one too, but two things, one that is caviar and I have at best a mud bug income, two, I am really new to the res and wessie so I would never be able to do an instrument like that justice. Oh well.......................
Ronnie, thanks to you and Dave. Dave is a great guy and told me when I was ready to contact you about a CBG. He told me he was picking one up from you today. I had already been in contact with John from quite a while back but had committed to Dave to buy 2 Resos and recently got a Weissenborn. So now it's time to save for the CBG. I am hoping it will be sooner rather than later buy I will have to see. I have some stuff I have to get done around the homestead this summer. You know how that goes. Thanks for the "friends list" invite. It is my pleasure. Mike
Thanks for the welcome. It was really nice and appreciated. I am saving up for a cigar box now. I have been looking at the Red Dog 3 string Delta Tramp. I may at some time in the future try a build but we'll have to see. I love these things and the sound that comes out of them, they touch my soul. Great website. This will work for me!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ronnie,
Sorry about the late reply - for some reason I didn't know I had a friend request. I have been playing the banjo for 1 year now come March. I am still not very good - but I keep practicing. FInally took the time to buy the materials to build a CBG - now I just need to get out in the shop - clean the shop - and start building. I have never built an instrument so this should be an adventrue. Hope all is well.
Hey ya , Ron ! G'morn'g ! IF (?) U haven't found out Site yet , Check out :: < Elderly Instruments > for Parts to create w/ , etc. What'cha think of it ? any Alternatives , less $ Expensive for such dire Needs as Tuning Pegs ?
Amen, brother, I agree with everything you're saying. I have a lot of hobbies, but I gotta tell you this CBG thing is the most fun, more addictive than smoking, and the most rewarding of anything I've done, and the bonus is that I am getting acquainted with some very interesting and friendly people. Thanks.

Ronnie,
Cheapest strings around are Musicians Gear 6 string sets from Musicians Friend. $2.00. I use these and like them well.
