Hey man, I built me first CBG this past weekend! I'll post pics soon. You're right, not rocket science...now I'm addicted! I've already started my 2nd one.
Hello! MAN, I LOVE YOUR GUITARS AND MUSIC!!! My name is Kevin M. Kraft, founder of the annual Kansas City Cigar Box Guitar Festival. This year's event will take place on August 26th, and once again I am accepting cigar box guitars and cigar box guitar-related donation, which will be raffled off during the festival, the proceeds to benefit Kansas City's Blues in the Schools program. If you have a guitar, accessory, CD, DVD--anything related to cigar box guitars that you would like to donate, please contact me at the Cigar Box Nation or email me at kevinmkraft@juno.com to learn where to send it.
Thanks for the complements. It looks like you have your share of nice builds, too. You do a lot more artistic finishing work than I do, I tend to leave mine plain. I wouldn't be nowhere a good today making my instruments without the likes of the CBN community. Thats's where I get most of my inspiration.
Looks like you made a real score on that partially built violin. I'm also considering building a cigar box guitar based on what Diane in Chiacago and some of the other members of CBN have done. I am not familiar with the instrument, so a bit of research will be needed. I also will be traveling to the States this summer for not quite 3 months. One of my objectives will be to acquire parts that I have a hard time finding in China. This time I'll also be looking out for fiddle parts. I have family in Houston, and have on a few occasions visited Austin.
Well, keep us informed on how your new violin project works out. Progress photos would be great.
Glad to have you for a nation friend. Good luck and wishes on the video. I use my several year old ($70.00 then) Koday easy share. I have an IPod, and it takes videos, but I have not really learned how to do it well.
thanks so much Joe.. I appreciate! :-) looks like you are off and building! and playing--i like the song that accompanies the slide show. Sweet! ..oh I see it's on your player.....hey you use a lil decoupage too, i dig that.....cut and paste, I'm a big kid..decorating CB purses, all I've done aside from playing them...do you have sound clips of your banjo? you certainly must be an artist...what is the aerial map? and peanuts comics! TOO cool..johnny cash big big LOL---see you have a music cat partner in crime.....nice to meet ya, Joe!
Sincerely, Laurie

Hey Joe,
Nice photos. Excellent vocals and playing on this page. I really like your sound. Can you make us a video? You are a nation start to come.
Joe, to edit your photos, click on them and up top by your name, click on options and edit in your tite, description and words of wisdom.
I want that video! Good on ya, brother.
High Joe
Many thanks for the fret tips.
The tailpiece on the Reptile is from an old Mandolin.
