Peter,

For this one I actually bought the fret board with the slots pre-cut. I think it was 23 7/8 inch scale.

I tried standard coated bass strings and also the "weed wacker" nylon strings as shown. I crimped ferrules on the ends to secure them in the bridge.

Thanks,

RL

I have found a couple at secondhand stores around the city and actually went to a place in Lodon Court in the Perth CBD called Devlins. They sell cigars and cigar boxes but they start at $20 for an empty box which is a bit rich and against the whole idea I reckon. They had a bout 30 to choose from and also have a store in Subi I think if you ever run out. Cheers.

Thanks your comment but sorry no plans and also no step by step pictures. Actually it's a very easy and fast project. You just use the housing of the light. You stick a 5W speaker in it , drill the hole(where the wire normally comes out)a little bigger, cover it with any kind of plate(ofcourse with a hole or holes), make a small wooden stick(a normal broomstick is just the size of a mikeholder) that fits the mike and thats it.
Success ! in case you have plans to make one. grtz. Werner

Peter, you are very welcome. I am working on my 2nd build and thinking about the 3rd and 4th builds to come. I am still learning while making mistakes. But I love building them. I haven't learned how to play except one tune----Shortin Bread. Thank you for your kind comments on mine, thank you for the encouragment. Happy building.

Peter, I have had several problems with the podcast on podbean. They had a server crash which forced me to re-upload everything. After that they had some other problem in which all my site content disappeared. I plan to move it all to another host but that will probably not happen until March. When it does I will have Shane make an announcement on the nation home page

Cool, hope the boxes are ok, I got one off ebay but turned out to be MDF not cedar, contacted a cigar distributor in QLD who is sending me two on monday, $13 bucks each plus postage, he said had a few builders over there so knew what i was chasing. Got some free ones from WA supplier but they were "plywood" Punch and Romeo & Julette ones, they are ok and used some so far, up to my 4th built now, still learning, need to improve my wood working skills...lol, but hey all good fun, wish i could play guitar too
good luck with your projects..

Hi, Yeah the SW is great at the moment. Fine hot days and great water at the beach. Yes is does look as though these bugs and boxes make a match. Our 64' is well worn. We bought it to hot rod it, originally as a first car for my daughter. Just received a couple of boxes from USA after speaking to a guy on ebay. He is able to supply me regularly it seems. I've only just started on this scene so I'still working things out. Scored a few good biscuit tins over xmas so they should be a go too. Just need to revamp our saw so I can rip some timber. Have a 30mm thick piece of American Oak that used to be a bench top I found in a skip. will make good necks.
