THanks for your encouraging comments Jon! You have great stuff too! I wanted to work with acrylics but have'nt gotten around to it yet, its cool too see it work
He he. Yeah, I like Fedora mostly but I have done Mint. I'm more the Red Hat-ish type. Done a lot with RH/FC/CentOS throughout the years. The company I'm with now (Raritan) makes KVMs, Rack PDUs, network appliances and they are all Linux based.
Hey Jon - thanks for the comments re the Porter-Cable bench planer.... I'll surely let you know what results I get once I get going on it. And I'll take your suggestions on the wood guides on the feeder and the rear output guides.
Re the GOF boxes - they sound great as CBGs, but the wood is a little soft and they are easy to damage, in my humble opinion.... They look as sharp as can be but they can be a pain to work with! I have a stock of those boxes, but only have a few more of the larger ones that make better CBGs.... the smaller ones might work for a uke or something, but I wouldn't make a regular cbg out of them. I had to put a lot of internal supports/braces in those boxes just for some added heft. I think that they make good solid-body cbgs with a single-coil or humbucker in them, but not great with piezo.... They show up on ebay from time-to-time. Keep your eye out for them!
Jon, even better fret saw is the Japanese Flush Cut Saw from Harbor Freight. $9 online (2/4/11) and may be cheaper in store. The kerf is .001" less than the fret tang. One bad-mother-finger saw. I swear by it.
howdy jon,i stopped by to answer your question about the neck on the nefta cigar box banjo.it was one piece that was about 3 inches wide so the neck and headstock are all one piece but the headstock was not thick enough for the tuners to go through correctly--to remedy this i added a plate of same wood 1/4 in. thick to the back of the headstock..i cut that volute shape before i glued the plate to the back of the headstock--left the rest of the plate oversize, then trimmed it down after glue was dry with a coping saw.thanks for your comments jon.
Hi Jon, thanks for your comment!
For the reso cone, i used a " fire detection " part.
I work in a company of electricity, i found it, i tried, it's great.
This video is the unboxing and the demonstration of a beautiful, six stringer built by Louie Lamanna. Join Louie and I June 15 at the second annual Pittsburg...
