Will still be a awhile before us CBG builders are taken over by artificial intelligence.

I asked an AI Chatbot, Google Bard, how to build a cigar box guitar.  The result was ok, but with a few mistakes.  Here it is:

Sure, here are the basic steps on how to build a cigar box guitar:

  1. Gather your materials. You will need a few basic materials to build a cigar box guitar, including:

    • A cigar box
    • A piece of wood for the neck
    • A fretboard
    • A bridge
    • Some strings
    • A tuner
    • A saw
    • A drill
    • A hammer
    • A screwdriver
    • Some sandpaper
    • Some wood glue
  2. Cut the neck to size. The neck of a cigar box guitar is typically about 24 inches long and 1 inch wide. Use a saw to cut a piece of wood to this size.

  3. Shape the neck. The neck of a cigar box guitar should have a curved profile. Use a rasp or sandpaper to shape the neck until it is comfortable to hold.

  4. Install the fretboard. The fretboard is the part of the neck that has the frets on it. It is typically made of a piece of wood that is about 1 inch wide and 12 inches long. Use a saw to cut the fretboard to size. Then, use a drill to drill holes for the frets. Finally, glue the fretboard to the neck.

  5. Install the bridge. The bridge is the part of the guitar that the strings rest on. It is typically made of a piece of wood that is about 1 inch wide and 2 inches long. Use a saw to cut the bridge to size. Then, drill a hole in the center of the bridge for the strings. Finally, glue the bridge to the cigar box.

  6. Install the strings. The strings are typically made of steel. They are installed by threading them through the bridge, over the fretboard, and through the tuning pegs. Then, use a tuner to adjust the tension of the strings until they are in tune.

  7. Play your guitar! Once the strings are in tune, you can start playing your guitar. The best way to learn how to play a cigar box guitar is to experiment and have fun.

Here are some additional tips for building a cigar box guitar:

  • Use a variety of materials. You can use different types of wood for the neck, fretboard, and bridge. You can also use different types of strings. Experiment with different materials to find a sound that you like.
  • Be creative. There are no rules when it comes to building a cigar box guitar. Get creative and have fun with it.
  • Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes when they are learning something new. Don't let a mistake discourage you. Just keep practicing and you will eventually get the hang of it.

With a little time and effort, you can build your own cigar box guitar that will bring you years of enjoyment.

They’re already a knock- off in China, so maybe it’s not too long off? Computers seem to ruin everything that’s fun! :)
