This TERRAPLANE custom from John Dawson Winter III is one of mine , a custom build by this brand today is allmost 10000 dollar a Build, far out of reach for my wallet.
But they are out there the ultimo Slide Guitar ,players like Sonny Landreth play on this for me a "HOLY GRAIL"

My ONLY Holy Grail is to eventually play the builds I already make! I used to at least do a passable rendition of 'Mary had a Little Lamb' on a Dulcimer (just playing the high string) but since the mini-stroke last year the middle two fingers on my left hand turned into slabs of wood and I lost what little progress I had made...even went back to one-handed typing alas...
Oh well, at least I can still build them, and they sound okay when OTHER people pay them... :)
Now if you'll excuse me, i'm going to step outside with my Resonator Boxolele and torture my neighbors with another rousing rendition of "Oh Dear Sweet Jesus is Someone Torturing a Squirrel With a Blowtorch?" And-a-One-and-a-Two...

Well you have played them, they dont look that special to me but maybee they are , there was one in his builds that i thougt look good ,the one whit his (Wife,Girlfriend) 's collage on it ! ill keep dreaming of the terra plane ! Those MIJ guitars and their pickups. Some of those guitars were built very good and some weren't worth buying. The pickups were good most of the time. The Goldfoils and the large and tall single coils with screw poles were fantastic.
Ooh that's nice... see digly dogs bugocaster is the holly grail of sounds for me a blend of tiesco single coil and a harmony goldfiol pickups... add some valves and it's kinda yummy ;>)
Andries,have you ever heard the cones offered by Stewmac? They’re really good, very well made. I know, another American company, sorry I don’t know a lot of european vendors :D
The Gretsch is inport for us so +200 euro's exstra for the ampli-sonic, while china is far more far away is tree times cheaper? TRADE WAR ? GRETSCH Most famous here for the big arch tops Rockebilly style, still the best! but Pricy! most cones are all the same allthow there is a new type cone on the market sold as a National cone whit bridge as new handspun exstra thin,about 60, euro popular makes priceworthy demand , till the price goes up, Vintage bissenis is still booming, all thow the real cream of the cream is still not availeble!!
He was constantly changing out pickups and then just used the one bridge pickup ultimately.
The search for perfect tone can lead one down a lot of rabbit holes. ;)
Price is pretty high, but he did that to all his guitars?
Red Sparkle would be nice.
I can't get over Gretsch offering the Malcolm Young model with 2 empty pickup cavities at a insane price. Can't help but feel like someone's getting cheated.
