I thought I would just post a compilation of my last few builds in here just to let anyone who's interested see what I've been up to.

I'm not sure what I have shown you guys so I just took a few photos. I don't know if blog posts in here go to the photos page either so I might post them twice.

Quick rundown..

Three different scale length and semi acoustic to full electric builds. The smallest box is the inside sheath of the mid size guitar. So I got one for free…

So I set myself up a Facebook account to ramble on about the builds I am making as I can do this while I travel or half watch the TV.

So I was going to build a guitar for my daughter.. And panicked.. Argh!! I want it to be just perfect. What if it was just.. Well.. Crap.. Useless.. Unplayable? 

See I had never built a neck before, and although I'm a 'jump right in' kind of guy I wasn't even sure what glue to use. So I needed a practice. 

A close friend of mine (let's call her C.F.) has done me one huge life altering favour for the last year and I thought it would be nice to build her a CBG as a way of thanks.…

OK now it's going to be more fun :)

This box has been waiting for me to get a little bit of experience, lurking on top of my cupboard. It's aimed as a gift for my daughter so my usual 'oh that will do' attitude will not cut the mustard, so to speak!!

Short trip out the house to get some oak for the neck and fantastic I find some that will do nicely :)…

Well it's done.

I stripped it down, gave the box a lick of varnish. Glued what needed glued and decided to go for screw head bolts for the bowl fixing. Here's the results..

its not entirely finished just now. I have some brass corner protectors coming from China which will arrive next month. But I just wanted to show it off. The electrics need soldered inside…

The 'thing' has been lurking in the corner like a sexy prostitute begging climax!

It kept looking at me! I swear! I could hear it whispering "bring me to life! I'm so close!"

Yeah yeah, none of the above, but it was so much fun the last time that I couldn't wait to get my new dremel stuck right into it.…

So I got a box, not a cigar box and a bit too deep for a serious instrument but perfect for me to have a test run building a resonator guitar.

gathered some wood together and started chopping, drilling and generally having a blast and a beer. I had a full day off work and nothing to do but have some fun testing out my rusty woodworking skills.

Yesterday I spotted small cat/dog bowls in a nearby shop.. 

With a head full of 'resonators!' I grabbed one and flicked the bottom to hear the 'boing' .. What was I doing? I know nothing about them.. So I grabbed out my mobile phone, turned on my guitar tuner app and took a reading.. It took about 6 bowls until I got one that seemed to be a D..

I thought I might share this with you guys.. And then had another thought.. Post build.. Couldn't they be 'tuned' much like steel drums…
