Both are of the unique variety; an electric resonator guitar called the Karina and a baritone electric guitar called the Odra. It is not a coincidence that this guitar has found its place among professional instruments such as the Karina and Odra. It proves that the idea of playing a musical instrument is at one's fingertips. It sets an example illustrating that anyone can built their own instrument and learn how to play it. It proves that everyone can find a joy in playing music and share this joy with others. It proves that it only takes a weekend to create an instrument and only few weeks to learn how to play. Moreover, each and every one of the cigar box designers admit that one benefits from an immense amount of satisfaction from a personally made instrument. The instruments used in their sonic experiments feature an ever expanding array of professional instruments, sound toys made for children or naive in nature, strange musical inventions as well as a whole array of small items that aren't really instruments but do make a sound. The music created in this way reveals unique colours of sound sometimes beautiful and fine, sometimes surprising and insightful, sometimes exposing the incomplete nature of the sound created and allowing ears to feast on this restriction. All this means that the band is constantly faced with the need to look for new creative solutions.

The group was started by Paweł Romańczuk in 2006, he is joined in Małe Instrumenty by Tomasz Orszulak, Jędrzej Kuziela and Maciej Bączyk, Piotr Łyszkiewicz.
Let me introduce to You Mr. Leopold Fijałkowski from Kielce, POLAND. Ingenious inventor of cosmic items like suspenders shock absorbers, bike on suspension, canned food actually made in bottle without the neck, eternal flytrap made with wire and sticky liquid. In 1906, in Kielce (south-east of Poland) Mr. Leopold engineered the first in Poland cigar box guitar made of wooden box and neck taken off of the Russian 7-string guitar.

Based on information provided by Mr. Leopold’s heirs, the instrument was electric from the beginning. But this is a risky thesis. In 1906 electricity was widely used for lighting but not for the acoustic purposes. The same year, in New York, the first loudspeaker was invented, but it’s unlikely that this technology was known in Kielce, Poland. Probably Radio inspired Mr. Leopold to build his electric instrument few years later.

Due to witnesses and local Kielce’s press, Mr. Leopold performed with his instrument which was described as “organ sound”. Hence we can presume that the instrument had installed sound modulator that is the first electric guitar effect unit ever. Unfortunately even though the instrument is still exists in collection of Kielce’s History Museum, there are no attempts to play the instrument and record the sound. It is because the bridge is missing. I suppose that the bridge was a stick protruding from the pickup gathering the strings vibrations as in an gramophone.
