Latest album! Cows, Crocs, & Dirty Socks! A pseudo-children's album recorded on garage-made instruments as well as my new 4-string electric Kurt Schoen guitar. Check it out!

Hogtie The Devil is the follow-up album to 'Yesterday will be better' featuring mostly old-time/folk tunes and played/recorded on cigar box guitars.

Yesterday Will Be Better is a forlorn collection of old-time tunes played on cigar box guitar.

Lullaby is an instrumental concept album of sorts which chronicles the last day in utero and the first few days ex utero. Yeah I remember that... It was recorded using homemade instruments and my son's crib toys.
Kirk Withrow: Lullaby
Box Fetish is the sole recording made by my old band Buckeye. It features lusciously lo-fi trash blues played by myself on cigar box and vox and Phil Neuheller on the cans. Maybe there will be a follow-up someday?

NEW ALBUM! Cows & Crocs & Dirty Socks! Available at cdbaby.com

Posted on April 6, 2010 at 9:00am 0 Comments

I just finished a cbg lo-fi folk rock album. It is essentially a children's album (at least that was the idea when I started). I posted the cover art (supplied by my niece Audrey Withrow), the track listing, and a few tracks on my page here. If you're into homegrown cbg music head over to www.cdbaby.com/withrowkirk3 and check it out. Leave a review or otherwise let me know what you think. Thanks.

I just came across the tab I wrote out when I was transcribing/arranging Brahms Lullaby for 4-string CBG. If anyone is interested I will try to get a digital copy and post it.

A few sleepy little cigar box guitar lullabies...

I've been listening to an album I recorded a couple years back in the days after my sons birth. He never really seemed to care too much for it but, years later, I brought it back out and my young daughter seems to find comfort in it. Anyway, it was(is) a concept album essentially following a newborn from his last day in the womb, through his first day on the outside, and then until he is finally able to go home. It was recorded with handmade instruments, mostly CBGs including a CBG scaled down… Continue

It's not a cigar box but...

...it's pretty damn cool. I have had this instrument for a while just waiting to refurbish. I finally did it today. The instrument was originally made by a rockabilly player from Miami named Curly Jim Morrison. I do not know if it was ever used for any of his recordings. I will put up some sound/video soon.

I saw your name in a member list. My last name is Church. Are you named Church or is it a user name. It looks like you do some fine work with CBGs. I am working on my 3rd. I am learning more on each new build. Keep up the good work.

Hi and thanks for getting back.
I need one about 1.5" long and .750 internal dia as I have fairly small hands and the others I have are a bit too big for my ring finger.
Let me know and I will get back to you.
Regards,
Hogs.

Thanks for your reply....The inside diameter is 16.25 mm and the length is 35mm. The other one can be a normal size. Let me know how to order.

Thanks also for the response, I would also like about 3/4 inch inside diameter but only about 1 inch long and also would prefer blue but heck I ain't picky. If you can spare 2 that would be great. Thanx!
