"Agree with Timothy. It's probably a belt buckle for use by a female. Using it on a strap would be better. Also it's antique, and if you make changes to it, you also loose it's value."

"I'm still trying to figure out how . . . clip off the middle on the back and attach it somehow so the strings are actually going through something else. I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, but I ain't givin' up quite yet!"

I have this brass saddle rosette that's vintage Civil War. It's 2 1/2 inches wide. It would be nice if it could go flat on the top somehow with the strings going through drilled holes.Or even better, it goes on top of a piece of hardwood in a crescent shape that has ferrules for the strings. It would poke up just over the bottom edge of the guitar. How would this brass piece attach? Note that it has a piece on its back.JoSee More

I'm far from being an electrician, so I had to search the internet to figure it out-but I found randomly flickering LEDs at evilmadscientist.com, then bought some with the same amp draw at radio shack, along with a bracket for 3 aaa batteries and a pack of mixed resistors. I had to make each one a separate circuit-there's a word for it, but I can't remember what it is-but I powered it with the 3 AAA's and hooked it to a push button on the front and glued a copper end cap onto it.
After I figured out the proper resistors, it worked on the second try.
I think there are more photos and pics on my Facebook page- M.T. Cigar Box Guitars. Page has been neglected since my son was born, but I try to update it occasionally.
