A buddy of mine is a little person - a dwarf. He wanted me to build him a guitar so I figured I'd make him one with a neck that'd fit his hands easier than a standard 1x2. And since he doesn't play…Continue

Hello nation! Some advice please...On my latest build the 4th fret is a tiny little smidge high. When I fret the 3rd fret I get some buzz. The notes still sound they're just buzzy. I don't want to…Continue

Working on the 2nd nut and saddle.
Epoxy failed on the rod bridge.
Drilled a hole in the wrong spot that I have to cover up
The nut - beginning of the fretting - started too far down the neck so I put a piece of fretwire above it to protect the wood and it was too high and I had to file it down....
It's going to be cool when it's done, but I will be happy to see it out the door.

One of these days I will have to finish these projects! Seriously. Fiddle is on the cusp. Hopefully next week for that one. Nickel Seegar parlor guitar parts are mostly here. Should be an "easy" build. And now:
The Monkeypod Elven Lute!
(maybe TWO lutes)
Ok, so they'll probably be 3/4 string dulicimer strummers that LOOK like lutes. Watched "The Court Jester" with Danny Kaye this week and was intrigued by the lute he had with him. It was a…

So I just won this "Rare 1925 Collectible Uncle Jakes Nickle Seegar Lined Wood Cigar Box". I got a screaming deal on it!
It's 13"x8"x3.5". Really a perfect size for a guitar. But should I turn it into a guitar or hold on to it to resell? I don't collect cigar boxes, but I love a deal.
The other issue is the top / label. I'd have to cut into it for sound holes. I'm not opposed to this. I think it would make a super cool…

What a weekend...
Nearing completion on a cat-bowl resonator concert-scale ukulele. I'm not a huge fan of non-neck-through builds. They try my patience and I'm leery of the neck joints. This one should be fine - it's a uke after all. But still! Using one of those Ashton boxes with the label that wraps almost all the way around. Put the bowl on the bottom covering the part that isn't covered by the label. Looks neat. Neck is cut and shaped, box is almost ready, neck support is…

Album Notes
In the middle of XIX century there were musicians who classical pieces performed on homemade instruments such as Cigar Box Guitar. But, unfortunately, there are no records of these unique
performances did not survive. How do sounds classical music of the Renaissance on cigar box guitar?
"Das Wohltemperirte Cigar Box Guitar" Album ( translation: Well-Tempered sigar box guitar ) was recorded in a home studio by Eugene Nemov.
The list of works you will see all the familiar songs and names of composers such as Franz Shubert, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Albinoni and names of familiar music lovers Renaissance: Pascal Bouquet and Francesco da Milano.
Pascal Bouquet - French lutenist, he lived in XV-th century. Pascal Bouquet composed many excellent works for lute and baroque guitar. Musical notations this musician survived to this day. "Brande des Hermites" and "Volte Praetorius" - it's two works from the collection of popular dances of France, Pascal Bouquet written specifically for learning to play the lute.
Francesco Canova da Milano (Italian Francesco Canova da Milano) - Italian Renaissance lute, one of the major European composers XVI veka.Franchesko Canova da Milano is one of the best composers of lute music, and possibly greatest lute virtuoso of all time. His work, and the amazing beauty of a consistently high level, and are often performed today.
Just the album includes two copyright works Eugene Nemov - "French dance" and "English dance". They are written in a popular style of lute music of the Renaissance .
All works have been performed at 3-string classic guitars from cigar boxes, made by Eugene Nemov. Description and images of these instruments You can see on the site www.cigarboxguitars.ru and personal Evgeny Nemov page on the www.cigarboxnation.com ;

thanks craig
If you want i can also include a saddle of the wedgewood, the bone will give a bright sound the wood will give a more mellow sound. The saddle is a tad bigger then the real fiddle bridge, that will give you some room to dail in the action. The rod wire comes out the right foot, and i used a full 2" rod. Plus i did the tapered profile like the real bridge fat at the bottom to real thin at the top, sets better like that.
Friend request gladly accepted! Drum loops'd be kewl!
