Wiring #19

I like the wiring. I'm not good at it, but it usually works. This time I got a buzz when I touch the tone pot shaft. Ground problem? The pickup has a very nice sound. I've got to move it over to the right to fit the strings better and make a bridge. The one on now is just my tester.

  • Ya, I'm going back to add string grounding to my rigs. I have 5 to fix. I'm going to make some tailpiece metal string holds out of a strip of metal with holes drilled for the strings and a wire soldered to one end or screwed down with the strip. None of the 5 have the buzz but one and that was fixed by adding a wood knob on the pot shaft. I'm hoping that the grounds will make two of the guitars tone pots functional. I'm getting lots of help from you guys with ideas to fix my problems. Thanks much for the advise, Jason.

  • It Buzzes when you touch tone?? That seems odd cause is usually the opposite with things like that....the buzz goes away when hyou touch something. I think grounding the strings somehow is a good practice, I ran an extra ground from the back of my vol pot out the box and to the tailpiece grounding the strings. Hope that helps some (; Solder joints look good too.
