  • Thanks Maddog they're a lot of fun, but somebody will want it as soon as you get done.

  • Beauty Gary!

    I've got a few VW caps laying around and have been meaning to do builds with, maybe tomorrow  :-)

  • Hmmmm, something to consider!  The older VW stuff probably has a cult like following similar to Coke products, etc.  I know Cindy is drawn to anything that has that classic VW logo on it.  I found a finned, aluminum VW valve cover and I mounted it on a piece of wood for a shelf/desk display oddity/conversaion starter for her.     Ha!  I just noticed my last post here, we bought a Passat not a Jetta!  We did own two Jetta Diesel sport wagons before switching to the bigger Passats.  I loved those things!  Little torque monsters!  I beat a guy on a Harley across an intersection with it one time!  The will smoke the hides!!!  ;-}   I will have to start looking for VW hubcaps too!

  • This was my 5th VW hubcap build, they sell as fast as you build them. Looking for more caps but getting harder to find. Going to a swap meet in a couple of weeks hope to pick up some there. My first car was a red 66 Beetle, Dad loved working on them.

  • Cindy's first car was a '65 Beetle.  Her and her brother used to rebuild them back in high school.  We just bought our fourth new VW last week, a white 2017 Jetta TSI.  My son is the internet sales manager at a VW dealership in Fargo, ND.  THis git is beautiful!  Bet your dad loves it!  When I first spotted it I was going to ask if you still had it and offer to buy!!!  :-}

  • Thanks Mick.

  • Be interesting to see Maddog's interpretation of a hub cap guit.

  • Cool about your dad.  Good VW mechanics were sought after.

     Slug Bug!   I just gave a VW cap like this to Maddog,   Kind of glad I did.   Let him do all that metal cutting!

  • We did have a '57 Bug and a '63 Bus. My first car was a '66 Bug.

  • Thanks UJ, Dad was a mechanic for 40 years and VW's were his favorite to work on.
